“Play what you feel. Sing what you believe. Perform each show like it’s your last.”
Song blues is alive and well in 2012. With a new hometown- Deland, Florida- and a new album- Time Change- Mike Quick is pushing the genre in new directions both lyrically and sonically. “I love Muddy, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnnie Taylor, and Otis,” says Quick. “I take what I’ve learned from those guys and forge ahead in their spirit. But I got to be me!”
With his arsenal of guitars and voice that sounds like he swallowed Ray Charles, Mike makes raw soul music that you can feel down to your bones. He’s got licks that’ll make you jump and lyrics that’ll make you think, both of which are on display on his latest release, Time Change.
